Bell Legacy Society

In 1905, Dr. Simeon Bell cleared the way for academic medicine in Kansas City and the region. His gift of property in the Goat Hill neighborhood of Rosedale (now part of Kansas City, Kansas) established the first hospital supporting patient care at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Now, more than a century later, Dr. Bell’s commitment to improving the health of his fellow Kansans has grown into The University of Kansas Health System.

“This shall be a place where the people of Kansas and areas surrounding may enjoy the best medical care available anywhere.”
– Simeon Bishop Bell, MD

The Bell Legacy Society, formed in 2004, consists of some of the health system’s most ardent supporters – those who have chosen to support The University of Kansas Health System through estate gifts or other planned gifts – who are committed to ensuring patients will continue to receive world-class healthcare right here in Kansas City.

Members of the Bell Legacy Society receive:

  • Invitations to exclusive health system events
  • Publications highlighting health system discoveries and medical advances
  • Recognition (if you choose, members may also choose to remain anonymous)
